Some 2,500-3,000 companies are expected to be entered in the professional builder register by the end of '07. The registration fee will range between 1,200 and 30,000 levs. In addition to the initial fee, members will pay an annual fee of 1,200 levs. Unregistered outfits will be barred from operating as construction companies after Jan 1, '08. Presently, the local construction industry employs 183,000, up 14% over '06. The sector posted a turnover of 9 bln euro last year, a figure that is expected to increase by 14% in '07.
