Sozopol is one of the oldest towns at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. First inhabitants of the town date back to the 4th-3rd century BC. The towns symbol appears on all coins that were found in Apollonia of the 4th century BC. This is a proof of the towns significant role in trade and culture.
